Hot springs near Hoonah
3 hot springs are within 40 miles of Hoonah: the closest is Neka Hot Springs (under 1 mi), the hottest is Tenakee Springs Bathhouse (up to 107°F), and 3 are free. Distances are straight-line; driving distances in the mountains can be much longer.
Neka Hot Springs
A Forest Service hot tub on Chichagof Island, reached by a 0.2-mile boardwalk across muskeg near milepost 9 of Forest Road 8580. Getting there means a boat to Eight Fathom Dock, 16 miles southwest of Hoonah, then nine miles on a single-lane road. There are vault toilets but no drinking water, and brown bears often use the area.

White Sulphur Springs
A Forest Service bathhouse and public-use cabin on Bertha Bay, on the outer coast of Chichagof Island in the West Chichagof-Yakobi Wilderness, about 65 miles northwest of Sitka. Boaters anchor at Mirror Harbor and walk a fairly level 0.9-mile trail, or skiff in from Porcupine Bay. The cabin sleeps four and is reserved on Recreation.gov.

Tenakee Springs Bathhouse
A public bathhouse in the middle of Tenakee Springs, a village on Chichagof Island that grew up around its 106-107°F sulfur mineral spring. A volunteer Bathhouse Committee runs it, and men and women bathe at separate set hours. Entry is by donation, and the town is reached by Alaska Marine Highway ferry or scheduled air service.
