Winter soaking tips

Check the road before you leave: mountain roads to hot springs are often unpaved, unplowed or gated in winter, and several venues above require 4WD, chains or snow tires. Soaking hours are often shorter in winter, and storms can close outdoor pools at short notice, so confirm with the venue the day you go. Bring a warm hat, sandals for icy decks and plenty of water, and keep hot soaks short.
